I’ll tell you about History of Pietrasanta whose origins date back to 1200.

Pietrasanta was occupied by Etruscans, Ligurians, Romans and Lombards

The village was formed by the Guiscardo da Pietrasanta Nobile from Milan

Lord of republic of Lucca

He decided to found the Lombard Fortress which can still be admired today from

Duomo Place of Pietrasanta

The Versilian town has always been the subject of contention between Pisani and Lucchesi

for the importance of Porto Motrone in Marina di Pietrasanta and for mineral resorces of silver and iron

Domintaed by the Lucchesi with Castruccio Castracani then by the Genoese and Florentines

for about 200 y until 1737 after years of stability it was considered a strategic place froa military

point of view

It will be occupied by the French until the fall of Napoleon

In 1814 it was definied as a Noble City but the events of the Italian Risorgimento saw it

joining the new kingdom of Italy in 1861

Today it is a thriving tourist town and full of artistic workshops
