Pontecosi Lake is located in Garfagnana in the municipality of Pieve Fosciana in the province<\/p>\n\n\n\n

of Lucca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lake has artificial origins created following the artificial damming of the Serchio river for<\/p>\n\n\n\n

exploit hydroelectric energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lake is shallow and not suitable for swimming, but it has a great faunal importance, welcoming <\/p>\n\n\n\n

several animal species that populate the lake cyclically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several species of aquatic birds can be observed, even rare ones, but the masters of the lake are the <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ducks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lake of Pontecosi has a crazy natural setting, it is surrounded by a dense forest with picnic areas <\/p>\n\n\n\n

where be able to relax and take a break from the summer heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the lake there are paths to explore the surrounding area and to observe the<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the surface of the lake there are aquatic plants that provide a home for the animals<\/p>\n\n\n\n

living in the lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It offers a spectacle even in winter when the white snow envelops the shores of the lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of particular beauty are the small footbridge of the devil built in the distant past<\/p>\n\n\n\n

and the small church located on the shore of the lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Garfagnana - Lake Pontecosi area<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Garfagnana is located between the Apuan Alps and the Apennines in the province of Lucca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It offers a great variety of landscapes ranging from the rocky walls of the Apuan Alps<\/p>\n\n\n\n

to the splendid prairies on the lower side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has a large percentage of lakes all of artificial origin to exploit hydroelectric capacities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Garfagnana the protagonist is nature which with its uncontaminated woods offers home to many<\/p>\n\n\n\n
