The sapphire Rocchetta Arrighina in Pietrasanta is found next to the Porta in Pisa<\/p>\n\n\n\n
La Rocchetta is a military building built by Castruccio Castracani in 1324 to strengthen the defense<\/p>\n\n\n\n
of the Rocca di Sala<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Castruccio Castracani appears to have brought his son Enrico when construction began<\/p>\n\n\n\n
placing a sapphire on the first brick in a glass of water and wine and under the next door<\/p>\n\n\n\n
named Porta a Pisa which gave access to the historic center a florin in a glass of water and wine<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to legend, the Rocchetta Arrighina sapphire gives wisdom, royalty and divine favor<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and it is probable that all this was dedicated to this construction<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fortification was equipped with a double drawbridge inside the city and outside<\/p>\n\n\n\n
where the moat was then they added the bells in 1456<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was destroyed by the siege of the Florentines in 1484 and later rebuilt and transformed<\/p>\n\n\n\n
to the point of becoming a private property in our days, taking away that military air<\/p>\n\n\n
